The 1973 Volvo 164E luxury sedan features a new front and rear design, new reinforced impact absorbing aluminium bumpers with rubber mouldings, fire resistant materials on all interior fittings, fuel injected 6 cylinder engine and air condition, all as standard equipment.
Other standard equipment includes radial-ply tires, leather upholstry, front and rear inertia-reel shoulder seat belts and an electric tachometer.

The Volvo 164, six-cylinder luxury leader of the Volvo line of automobiles, is only slightly modified for 1971. One-inch wider steel wheels with larger cooling slots, an improved automatic transmission and whitewall radial tires are among the more significant 1971 changes.
A sliding sun-roof is another new feature now available on this model as optional equipment.
